Growing up, I never dreamed of becoming a doctor. As I got older, I realized the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and improving my health naturally. The more I researched these natural remedies, the more I realized how effective they can be in managing diseases and chronic conditions. This, combined with my passion for helping others, lead me to become a Naturopathic Doctor.
I'm passionate about what I do. I truly believe optimal health and disease management is obtainable for everyone. It's the little things we do everyday that have the biggest impact on our health. Click here to learn more about my practice philosophy and what an appointment looks like.
I obtained a Doctor of Naturopathy at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). Education at CCNM is a vigorous 4 years, with a curriculum involving biomedical sciences, physical diagnosis, clinical nutrition, traditional chinese medicine & acupuncture, botanical (herbal) medicine, physical medicine, homeopathy and lifestyle management. The Doctor of Natuopathy degree program at CCNM provides more than 3000 hours of classroom training and 1200 hours of clinical experience through the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic and The Sherbourne Health Centre.
Prior to my 4 years at CCNM, I completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo.
My Practice Philosophy
Most importantly, I work WITH my patients to help them reach their health goals. We form a team - and you are just as important as I am in reaching any goals you have.
With every patient, I take the time to discuss lifestyle interventions such as diet, exercise, sleep and stress management. These four interventions form the foundation of good health. From there, we will build an individualized treatment plan that caters to your needs.
How our Time is Spent Together
OPTIONAL: FREE 15 Minute Consultation
Any questions? How can Naturopathic medicine help? Am I the right doctor for you? I offer a FREE 15 Minute consult - either in office, over the phone or skype. Please note no treatment is given.
1st Visit: Initial Naturopathic Intake
Generally 1 hour long, a thorough medical history (past and present) is taken verbally. Treatment will be provided if necessary and a focused physical examination may occur.
2nd Visit: Naturopathic Screening Physical Examination
A head-to-toe exam assesses neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory and abdominal systems. It provides a baseline marker of health and ensures nothing is missed.
Female breast & pelvic and male genitourinary exams would only be done when indicated and consent is obtained from the patient.
Subsequent Visits: Vary
Together, we decide what the best treatment plan is for you. We will consider your personal preferences, budget and personal beliefs and agree upon the best plan of action.
